Simone McGoona
My name is Simone McGoona and I am an intern personal trainer at ABS. I am also studying Mental Health Nursing in Trinity. I am trained in nutrition and I am certified with the American Heart Association/ Irish Heart Foundation in ‘Heartsaver CPR AED’. I have been training for a few years and in the past year I have gotten into powerlifting.
I compete in competitions with the ABS Powerlifting Club and hope to one day compete on the Irish Team. I decided to study personal training because I want to help people become a better version of themselves. I hope to inspire women not to be afraid of heavy weights and break down the stereotypes that accompany women in the fitness world.
When I was a kid I was very active. I did track athletics and karate for six years. I got to my blue belt before steering away from it. In Karate, I wasn’t very good at controlling my anxiety…especially at competitions. The anxiety that I felt back then is what fuels me today, which is why I got into competitive Powerlifting. I made a promise that I was not going to let myself down and let my potential talent and hard work go to waste. This is what I aim to instil in my clients; discipline, motivation and confidence. I will not let my clients let themselves down!
