The “When-Then” Lie You Keep Telling Yourself | Personal Trainer Dublin

You’ve said it before. We’ve all said it.

“When work settles down, then I’ll start.”
“When the kids are back in school, then I’ll do it.”
“When the weather’s better, when I’m less stressed, when life isn’t so mad, when I’ve got more money, more time, more energy… then I’ll start.”

Here’s the truth: You won’t.

Because there’s always going to be something. And waiting for life to calm down is like waiting for Dublin traffic to disappear.

It’s never happening.

The “right time” is a mirage. You’re
inverting the sequence. You don’t start training after you get the six-pack. You don’t start saving after you have money. You don’t brush your teeth after they’ve fallen out.

None of that makes sense.

Here’s what actually works: You start when it’s hard. When you’re tired, busy, overwhelmed, stressed, and skint.

Because if you can make it work when things are a mess, it will absolutely work when things are easier.

If you train your brain to only act when conditions are perfect, guess what happens when they aren’t?

You fold. You cave. You quit.

But if you build habits while everything is chaos? Now we’re talking. You’ll be
bulletproof.

Want to hear something grim? Go on. Pick up your phone. Check your screen time. How many hours? Three? Four? Five?

Now tell me again that you don’t have time. You’ve got time. It’s just buried under reels, scrolling, and group chats you don’t even want to be in.

Someone once said to us: “I want to wait
until I’m less busy before I sign up.”

Six months later, they were fatter, more stressed, and still busy. Shocking.

No one ever said: “I’m so glad I waited another six months to feel even worse about myself.”

You don’t get in in spite of the hard stuff. You get in because of it.

The people who made it happen? They had the same problems as you. Kids. Jobs. Injuries. Debt. Stress. Insomnia. You name it.

They didn’t wait for perfect conditions. They got to work.

Maybe it’s your turn now.
