If you saved €500 a week for 10 weeks, you’d have €5,000, right?
Nice little chunk of change. Holiday money. A deposit on something sensible.
Or a down payment on a motorbike that’ll probably leave you in crutches and single.
Now imagine this.
You go out, blow the lot in one weekend. Flights, hotels, cocktails, half a tattoo. Monday morning hits… and your account’s empty again.
Poof. Gone.
You’ve got some memories, maybe a limp, but the savings? Useless. That’s how most people treat their calories.
Burn 500 extra calories a week? That’s a 5,000 calorie deficit over 10 weeks. Not
bad.
But eat like a maniac for a weekend…
Pizza, pints, Deliveroo on speed dial…
…and guess what?
All that work is gone. The fat you lost? Replaced. The deficit? Wiped.
You’re basically back at zero with nothing to show for it but a bloated stomach and a vague sense of regret.
Calories are a bank account in reverse.
Instead of trying to build your balance, you’re trying to drain it. But every time you “treat yourself” like
it’s your birthday and your dog’s christening in one, you undo the work.
Now let’s be real. I’m not saying never enjoy yourself. I’m saying maybe don’t demolish three days’ progress for a ten-minute dopamine hit followed by ten hours of self-loathing and bloat.
It’s not worth it.
You’ve got to think long term.
You’ve got to be consistent. And you’ve got to stop making the same mistake over and over again like your body has short-term memory loss.
Because it doesn’t.
It remembers every chip, every pint, every unnecessary nibble you convinced yourself you “deserved.”
Want to feel better? Look better? Actually get somewhere with this?
Then stop cashing in your progress for momentary pleasure.
Act like your body’s a long-term investment. Not a piggy bank you rob every time you see an ice cream van.
